About Julie Epp

Julie Epp is a Vancouver-based painter and educator known for her pop-surrealistic figurative portraits. Her artworks seamlessly blend elements of plants, animals, insects, and flowers. Influenced by art nouveau, historical and mythical narratives, as well as science and nature, Julie draws inspiration from both old masters and contemporary artists. This influence has shaped her artistic journey, prompting a continuous exploration of techniques and ideas derived from these sources.

As an educator, Julie Epp’s goal is to foster creativity and encourage participants to embrace their unique artistic inclinations. Whether in an hour-long class or a five-session course, she aims to help students loosen up and appreciate their natural creative contributions, rather than fighting against them. Julie's approach applies to both children and adults, and she hopes that by promoting this attitude, she can help students overcome frustration and the fear of making mistakes, enabling them to enjoy and fully engage in the creative process.
