About The Artist
I have studied the visual arts most of my adult life. I attended the Vancouver School of Art (now ECUAD), UVic (MA Art History), and SFU (Professional teaching degree). After retirement I attended Capilano University in the Studio Art program.
My recent work involves working with discarded papers that would typically be thrown out or recycled. In an attempt to address the over-abundance of paper in our lives, I embarked on a series of related work ranging in size from small works around 12x12" to larger pieces up to 36x48". The piece shown here is from this series, and is titled "Darwin in my Thoughts."

Emilie Kvist
About The Artist
Within my art practice I would consider myself to be a sculpture and mixed media artist, and therefore not a painter in particular. Yet I understand that painting as a discipline has many valuable techniques to offer to any art practice. These works are meant to blend the line between sculpture and painting as a medium, causing the viewer to become confused as to if this is a painting or a sculpture. Since the fall of 2019 I have started to build my own forms of canvases, starting with triangular shapes. These sculptural paintings, as I am calling them, have become one of my new fascinations in my art practice.

Karlie Norrish McChesney
About The Artist
Karlie Norrish McChesney’s art making explores perspective and structural form. Her art practice requires much measuring, calculating and arranging of colour, so much so that her work is a form of puzzle solving. Her preferred medium is fibre in the form of stitched textiles with paint and plastic applied to the surface. Truncated is one in a series of work that depicts modular origami. This piece is of a cuboctahedron and an octahedron. Karlie is a retired art teacher from the Chilliwack School District. She is an active member in SAQA, FAN and the CVAA.

About The Artist
During quarantine last year in April 2020, I decided to pick up my sketch book and a pencil and taught myself how to draw. I drew something everyday and everyday turned into months. My pencil sketches turned into mixed media art utilizing acrylic paint, sharpies, felt pens, watercolor, glitter and so much more on the canvas. Being in quarantine was a blessing in disguise. It taught me to slow down and tap into a hidden talent that I may never have had the opportunity to explore. I create art with heart and this is my way of expressing myself.
