Call for jazz musicians
Applications to perform at the 3rd annual Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival open
Fort Langley, September 30, 2019 -- The Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival is accepting applications from professional, emerging and young jazz musicians interested in performing at the festival, July 24 to 26, 2020.
The annual summer music and arts festival will once again feature two full days of free world-class jazz and blues bands on two outdoor stages, four pop-up stages and jazz around town at various restaurants and venues announced Dave Quinn, artistic director of the festival.
That is in addition to four ticketed-only events including the return of the outdoor blues show kicking off the festival on Friday night, a Roaring 20’s gala dance and a gospel choral concert to wrap-up the festival on Sunday night. Festival organizers are also adding a new ticketed event on the Saturday night, a concert with a surprise headliner jazz artist.
“People have asked us how we could possibly top this year’s program that featured everything from big band, New Orleans, funk and gypsy jazz to R&B, straight-ahead jazz, swing and vocal jazz,” said Quinn. “We have a lot of great local talent and I’m looking forward to putting together another fantastic program for our 2020 festival.”
This year’s festival featured 57 acts and 257 musicians performing at 16 venues throughout the three-night, two-day festival, attracting an estimated 15,000 attendees according to Quinn.
“The variety of music and events that were available to the public and community in the Fort area was amazing,” said Soo-Jean Yee, president of the Fort Langley Community Improvement Society and the Fort Langley Community Hall. “Every nook and corner of the Fort was filled with music and laughter and great smiling faces.”
Along with the music, the 2020 festival will feature new art events an expanded Kidz Zone and history of jazz presentations, a full day jazz education workshop and more.
Applications to perform at the 2020 festival are open until December 31, 2019. The online application form can be found here.
