Cool Blues Show offers big bang for one's buck in Fort Langley
Sometimes, with the price of concert tickets what they often are in 2023, it pays to do a little simple math.
Fort Langley’s Cool Blues Show proves that the days of getting a considerable bang for one’s buck aren’t over. Consider what you get over the course of two days—July 21 and 22—for your dollar at scenic Fort Langley Park. For $120, a weekend pass you get 10 bands, that breaking down to $12 per act before taxes and service charges.
Once upon a time, $12 got you tickets to the Black Keys at the Pic Pub on Pender back when it rocked. That time is over. Except....when it comes to the Cool Blues show.
Headlining July 21 is Texas-born troubadour Ruthie Foster, whose throwback combo of classic R&B, vintage soul, and American South gospel has earned comparisons to giants like Aretha Franklin and Mahalia Jackson. Second-billed the Harpoonist & the Axe Murderer have been found everywhere from headlining gigs at the Commodore to gracing the cover of the Georgia Straight, with the bill rounded out by My Son the Hurricane, Cousin Harley, and Emmett Jerome & Hollywood Alberta.
Anchoring July 22 are Vancouver’s ever-reliable party starters Five Alarm Funk, with Ontario country vet Crystal Shawanda, Silent Partners, David Gogo Band, and Marcus Trummer Band fleshing out the undercard.
While music is the draw, the Cool Blues Show will also feature food trucks and a beer garden, art installations and art vendors, a games area, and more.
Those unable to commit to two nights of entertainment can also opt for single-day tickets for $65. As for what that works out to per ticket, you can do the math.
