"When we saw that the Fort Langley Jazz and Arts Festival were doing a contest to design a holiday card, we just had to enter. We love creating art in our house and to combine the love and joy of the holiday season with music seemed like the perfect combination. We believe music can open up the imagination, and it certainly did in our case! They both thoroughly enjoyed creating their pieces, making a delightful mess and giggling at their ideas as they came into fruition on paper; what a wonderful experience for us all."

- Johanna Aldred mum of Elodie & Finnley Smith

"My Mom asked me if I wanted to make a picture to celebrate the holidays and music that would be made into a card, I knew it had to have dinosaurs on it! I like to use mixed media to make my pictures and I thought my dinosaurs ice skating while playing jazz tunes around a Christmas tree would be funny so I made that. A trombone is hard to draw though"

- Elodie Smith, aged 8

"Birds make music so I decided to do birds enjoying some time together in a big winter tree. I imagine they'd like chess, playing hide and seek and making snow men too. It took a long time to make, but I didn't mind because it was fun, especially as it came out how I hoped."

- Finnley Smith, aged 6
