Youth Concert Series with Rising Stars Wraps Up July 14th

Fort Langley, BC – Get ready to groove because the countdown is on! In just two weeks, the Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival, one of the summer’s most highly anticipated music and arts festival in the Fraser Valley, will take place from July 25-28.

"We're thrilled to bring the Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival back for another year of music, art, and community celebration. This year's lineup promises to be one of our most diverse and exciting yet and will be a blast for visitors of all ages” said Co-Founder & Executive Director Karen Zukas.

Known for its vibrant atmosphere and diverse musical lineup, the Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival is noted as one the Vancouver Sun’s “Top Ten BC Music Festivals” for the summer of 2024. 

"The Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival is truly a celebration for everyone, blending top-tier musical performances with interactive arts experiences throughout the historic and quaint Village of Fort Langley. As we count down to the festival, we invite music and art enthusiasts of all ages to join us for a weekend filled with world-class jazz and vibrant artistic and cultural offerings," said Festival Co-Founder and Artistic Director, Dave Quinn.

Highlights:

Thursday, July 25, 1 – 3pm: Kick off the festival with the Tribute to Duke Ellington featuring the Fred Stride Jazz Orchestra, promising an afternoon of timeless jazz classics in the Fort Langley Community Hall. Tickets available here.

Friday, July 26, 4 – 11pm: Don’t miss the Cool Blues Show at Fort Langley Community Park, featuring renowned acts such as Tom Lavin & The Legendary Powder Blues Band, Rick Estrin & The Nightcats, Miss Emily, Silent Partners (tribute to B.B. King), and Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne. Beer garden, food trucks, vendor market, art installation, games and more!  Tickets available here.

Saturday, July 27, 9:30am: The free festival will kick off with the traditional Mardi Gras Strolling Parade on Saturday at 9:30am from the Fort Langley Farmers Market to the Fort Langley Community Hall. All are welcome to join the strolling parade.

Saturday & Sunday, July 27 and 28, 10am – 4pm, Free Festival: Enjoy a diverse lineup of free performances on two outdoor stages in front of the Fort Langley Community Hall including artists like Hilario Duran, Hutcheson Andrew Trio in a Tribute to Kenny Wheeler, Wild Blue Herons with Horns, and more. The popular Kidz Zone, art vendors and variety of art, music and Indigenous culture workshops suitable for all ages will be available on both days. For the full line up visit here. 

Saturday, July 27, 7 – 11pm: Ticket holders will experience Jake and Elwood’s Blues Brother Revue, a high-energy tribute to the Blues Brothers at Fort Langley Community Hall Ballroom. Sold out.

Sunday, July 28, 4 pm: Wrap up the festival with Jazz AWE, an Alternative Worship Experience at United Churches of Langley featuring the Maureen Washington Quartet, blending live jazz music with spiritual reflection. By donation here.

Youth Concert Series Wraps Up:

The festival’s Youth Concert Series, presented by the Tony Quo Vadis Foundation and Langley Heritage Society, will conclude on July 14th, showcasing local young talent at Fort Langley Heritage CNR Station. This summer series has highlighted emerging musicians such as Langley Fine Arts School, Max Holmes, and James Vickers, a 14-year-old blues sensation. More information here.
The Festival’s two Rising Jazz Star Winners - Jaiden Christie and Steven Rutherford, will showcase their exceptional talent during the festival weekend, on the Rising Spirit Stage in front of the Fort Langley Community Hall.
Last Youth Concert Series Show:

July 14, 1 – 3pm - Trading Fours, Fort Langley CNR Station

Trading Fours is a Vancouver-based jazz quartet comprised of accomplished young musicians, having performed in honours ensembles at the provincial and national levels, such as BC Music Educators Association Honour Jazz Ensemble, the Conn-Selmer Centerstage Jazz Band, and the York University National Youth Jazz Combo.
